So you got invited to a wedding! YAAYYY!
“I have nothing to wear!”
“OMG! What DO I wear to a wedding?”
How nerve-wracking are those thought?
Wedding season is upon us and we should all be celebrating that two individuals are deciding to join hands and walk through life together.
But, when you don’t know what to wear, panic can set in.
I’ve styled many people for many different life events; baby showers, bridal showers, interviews, and even funerals and, as you guessed it, I’ve seen some not-so-great looking outfits at said events.
THAT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOU. Don’t let it be YOU!
When deciding on the perfect wedding ensemble here are a few things to consider:
There’s an old-age rule “never wear white to a wedding” and while I usually bend on “rules”, this one still holds a huge amount of weight. God, in all His infinite wisdom and creativity, created many colors. Like..A LOT. Please refrain from wearing white (or ivory…or beige…or cream..) on that day as you have about 100 other colors to choose from. Let’s let the bride stand out in whatever shade of white she decides to wear.
The ONLY exception to the rule is if the invitation is clear “an all-white wedding”.
I can’t stress this enough. When selecting your outfit consider your body type (pear-shape, apple, hour-glass, or athletic) and shop according to what fits YOU best (and not what someone thinks you should wear).
Be sure your attire is appropriate for the couple’s venue choice AND their invited guests.
Daytime weddings and nighttime weddings call for two totally different color schemes, accessories, and material.
Here’s one thing to consider For daytime weddings, remember not to wear black or sequins, as the sparkle will make you look overdressed.
